Lamont Dozier Puts Royal Touch on Motown Gold

by

Watch TV or movies, or stop by the supermarket, and you’ll probably hear a melody created by Lamont Dozier.

Dozier and record producer Fred Mollin are reimagining 22 of Dozier’s hit records … his voice accompanied by piano, guitar and duets. Brian and Edward Holland and Dozier helped make The Supremes, the Four Tops, Martha Reeves and The Vandellas and Marvin Gaye nationally known artists for Motown.

Dozier is now an artist-in-residence at USC. Dozier and Mollin are recording at least one session at Memphis’ Royal Studios where the Rev. Al Green and producer Willie Mitchell made musical magic.
