What better time than Women’s History Month to hit the Memphis Women’s Legacy Trail — a project aimed at documenting, remembering and celebrating the lasting impact of myriad women and their life’s work on the city.
From Marion Scudder Griffin (Tennessee’s first female attorney) to Mary Church Terrell (a suffragist and co-founder of the NAACP), the trail has 25 stops in total including artist Gail Rothschild’s 1994 Muted Belles Sculpture which pays homage to the city’s women.
Don’t miss the former Nineteenth Century Club on Union Avenue, home of the largest and most influential women’s club in all of Memphis until 2013.
