Memphis chefs tapped for top culinary honors

A pair of Memphis (culinary) mavens have been named semifinalists in the 2024 James Beard Awards – a recognition ranking second only to the coveted Michelin Star.

Daris Leatherwood, formerly of Supper Club on 2nd (for which he is listed in the awards) is vying for Best Chef: Southeast. After opening SCO2, he moved onto Cache 42 Kitchen and Cocktails before landing at Eat-N-Vibe, his newest venture, where he is chef and partner.

Meanwhile Phillip Ashley Rix of the eponymous online chocolatier – boasting unique chocolates crafted using sustainably sourced raw materials – is vying for Outstanding Pastry Chef or Baker.
