Ways to Celebrate Juneteenth in Memphis

by

Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, the day slaves in Texas learned Abraham Lincoln had signed the Emancipation Proclamation more than two years earlier. Here are some upcoming Memphis celebrations:

Juneteenth Urban Music Festival – During this week-long fest, there will be an art-and-wine mixer, job fair, concert and awards. The week concludes June 16-18 with an outdoor festival in Robert R. Church Park.

Douglass Juneteenth Festival and Parade – Celebrate Juneteenth in Douglass Park with live music, vendors, games and food June 16-18. A parade will be held June 16 at noon along the Douglass-Chelsea Corridor.
