Hurricane 901 Brings out Helping Hands

Memphis is a community of giving. When a devastating wind storm left nearly 200,000 people without power, the good could be seen everywhere.

Memphis Police Officer Harding handed out popsicles to children at the Orange Mound Community Shelter. Daurie Schwartz’s business’ ice machine made 500 pounds in 24 hours. The Kroger store at 2269 Lamar gave away more than 1,500 cases of cold water, and the Neighborhood Christian Center volunteers passed out meals to residents in Binghampton, one of the hardest hit areas from the storm.
