Memphis, it’s time to support your local urban music artists. The 26th annual Juneteenth Urban Music Festival starts on June 15. If you’re wondering about the meaning behind the name, Juneteenth is actually a holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States.
The Urban Music Festival celebration, which runs until June 17 this year, has become a major tradition. Families and friends can enjoy the rap, R&B, hip hop, gospel and soul music without paying a penny.
Food and retail vendors will set up onsite for the event, held at Robert R. Church Park, in downtown Memphis.
