Mobility nonprofit provides affordable transportation

Last month, we wrote about private companies offering rentable scooters. But one nonprofit has another model for making transportation affordable.

My City Rides has been offering a motorized scooter program since early 2018. The organization understands how difficult it is for lower-income individuals to cover transportation expenses. That’s why it’s rethinking how people get to work with a rent-to-own scooter program.

Scooter riders make low monthly payments, while My City Rides covers insurance, maintenance and other costs. Employers can also participate in the program.

The nonprofit has put 90 scooters on the road in the past year.
