Sometimes co-ed athletic leagues can seem like a boys’ club, but the number of women involved in the Memphis Gaelic Athletic Association club continues to grow.
Memphis GAA offers adults the opportunity to learn the Irish sports of Gaelic football and hurling, the fastest field sport in the world. Now they’re adding camogie — a sport almost identical to hurling but played by women – which will allow the club’s women to compete in other cities that have separate women’s travel teams.
The club also hopes to add an all-women Gaelic football travel team to represent Memphis against other cities.
