Juneteenth in the 901

by Sally Schroder

Memphis, a long-time mecca for Black history, will mark Juneteenth 2025 in style:

Enjoy free admission to the National Civil Rights Museum at the Lorraine Hotel on June 19th, Juneteenth Community Day.

Educate yourself at Cxffeeblack (761 National St.), where your morning joe is served with a side of history – namely, the stark truth that coffee was built on Black & Indigenous slave labor.

Enter the Major Taylor Memphis Juneteenth 5th Annual Freedom Ride on Saturday, June 14 – with a trio of routes pedaling from Wiseacre Brewing Co.

Celebrate Women of Color at this year’s Douglass Freedom & Heritage Festival, June 20-22.
