Students at Shelby County Schools spent part of the day on Aug. 21 outside, with their heads tilted toward the sky for the solar eclipse.
Shelby County was a couple of hundred miles from the path of totality, and clouds blocked the view for part of the event, but that didn’t dampen any of the kids’ spirits.
Teachers at Grahamwood Elementary and Highland Oaks Elementary made the experience both fun and educational. Fourth-graders at Highland Oaks brought SunChips and MoonPies to snack on. Grahamwood second-grader Allison Brumbaugh showed off the sun viewer she made with a cereal box.
