While it’s true that many of the Bluff City’s most well-known athletes are Memphis Grizzlies superstars, our heavy hitters also include a number of high school athletes.
High school basketball has consistently been on the rise in Memphis, and Louis Mobley, assistant basketball coach of the reigning champs at Douglass High School, agrees. Mobley, a 2010 graduate of River City High School, says that “player talent has seen an increase since [his] time on the court.”
But access is just as important as talent. “Kids have more opportunities to play, and there is somewhere for everyone,” Coach Mobley said.
