In Spring of 2018, Volunteer Memphis will host a Plant the Parkways event to plant more than 1,000 flowering trees. The goal of the event is to restore Memphis’ historic parkway system to its former glory.
Memphis City Beautiful and the City of Memphis Division of Public Works will partner on the beautification project, supported by the Kresge Foundation. While it’s important to renovate the parkway system by replenishing the tree canopy with 200 native trees, the value of planting has deeper impact on neighborhoods, businesses and local citizens.
