As the executive director of Restore Corps, Rachel Haaga’s job is to eradicate modern-day slavery.
After working with human trafficking survivors in Cambodia, Haaga returned home to Memphis to create services for survivors. Their numbers increased, so she helped found Restore Corps, which rehabilitates, empowers and seeks justice for its clients. So, how can we help?
“Memphis is kind and thoughtful to the cries of the hurting,” Haaga said. “Be an upstander rather than a bystander. I’ve grown an affection for the term ‘upstander.’ Any of us has the opportunity to stand up for something rather than stand aside.”
