A Memphis family has a rich history of public service that dates back 64 years. Four members of the Winfield family have spent their careers working as firefighters with the Memphis Fire Department.

It began with Robert Winfield, who first put on the uniform in March of 1953. His son Gary soon followed, then nephews James and Kenneth Winfield joined the fire department.

The Winfields generously dedicated themselves to saving lives, homes and property in the Bluff City for more than six decades, and the Memphis community is tremendously grateful to the family for their selfless service to our city.
