Teens Use Summer for Community Service

by

This summer, a group of more than 300 teens are spending their days scraping, caulking, painting and beautifying homes for families who can’t afford to do it themselves. At the same time, they’re making some new friends.

The group is part of a workcamp headed by the Highland Church of Christ in Cordova, which is aided by several other local churches.

Over the last 29 years, the workcamp has helped refurbish more than 800 homes. This week, they scraped and painted four homes in Orange Mound at no charge. The students even paid for supplies out of their own pockets.
