Elmwood Cemetery is a final resting place for Civil War heroes and victims of the 1878 Yellow Fever epidemic.
To honor the historical significance of its venerable residents, Elmwood is hosting two “Soul of the City” tours on Oct. 26-27. Those who attend can stroll around the cemetery and meet several famous, deceased Memphians.
Volunteer performers will play some of these Memphians, including Vincent Astor, a journalist who wrote one of the first books on Memphis history, and Charles Fisher, a businessman who led a relief committee in the final days of the Yellow Fever crisis. Tickets are $20.
