Giant LEGO Animal Sculptures At Memphis Zoo

by Michael Polzella

Lions and tigers and LEGOS, oh my! Ginormous animals are invading the Memphis Zoo. The award-winning traveling exhibit, “Nature Connects: Art With LEGO Bricks,” is making a stop in the Bluff City.

The show will feature 15 colossal sculptures with more than 460,000 LEGO blocks. It took a whopping 4,000 hours to build them by hand. The creator, New York artist Sean Kenney, has designed more than 100 sculptures with more than 2 million of the tiny, plastic bricks.

The exhibit opens to zoo-goers March 3, runs through July 9 and is free with general admission.
