Shelby County Schools Hosts ‘Why Teach?’ Contest” for Education Students

by Michael Polzella

Every day, teachers not only change students’ lives, but help shape their communities.

Shelby County Schools is calling on education students to share, in their most creative ways, why they want to enter the teaching profession. The “Why Teach?” Contest invites college students, who are interested in teaching and set to graduate this spring, to submit an essay or video for a chance to win a $5,000 cash grand prize. Two second-place winners will each receive a $2,500 cash prize, and one third-place winner will receive a $500 cash prize.

Students can apply at whyteachcontest.org.
