Seventy-five men completed this year’s five-week course at Manhood University. Course topics included financial literacy, conflict resolution and job training as well as trust and respect.
Community members gathered at New Sardis Baptist Church to celebrate the program, led by the city’s community affairs assistant, in partnership with several area churches.
Some men were also offered a job on the spot following graduation, where employers lined up to put them to work. Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland said he believes job training is a top priority, and that if men show they’re committed, the city will meet them halfway.
