Five mosques recently opened their doors to welcome members of the larger Memphis community in celebration of their annual Open Mosque Day.

Riverdale Elementary history teacher John Frizzen visited Memphis Islamic Center to learn more about Islam.

“This is my first one of these to attend,” said Frizzen. “I have students from all walks of faith. So, I’ve been looking forward to this – just to learn a little bit more and become a little bit more conversant in the different religions. If I’m expected to teach about them, it’s nice to know about them from more than just a book.”
