For years — and now, more than ever — the bold, abstract prints, which originated in African tribes, have been worn by people of all races and cultures. Memphis’ Brooks Museum of Art is highlighting these designers and African culture with “African-Print Fashion Now! A Story of Taste, Globalization and Style.”
The traveling exhibit highlights cosmopolitan African fashion for men, women and children by African designers. The exhibit will feature designers’ biographies alongside the exact dresses, gowns and menswear that have been worn on the runway.
The exhibit will run through August 12. For more information, visit Brooks Museum’s website here.
