Learning to give back at an early age, Bruce Elementary School students recently donated more than 7,000 items to Hurricane Maria relief efforts in Puerto Rico.
Bruce students, their families and school staff members presented Marlon Mercado, with the group Memphis for Puerto Rico, with thousands of bottles of water to be taken to the island after it was devastated by the hurricane on September 20. The school also collected canned food items to donate to hurricane victims.
“We’re very proud to see our students so passionate about helping our brothers and sisters in need,” said Principal Archie Moss.
