It’s helping prevent summer drain, but it’s not your average summer school!
Shelby County Schools’ Superintendent’s Summer Learning Academy is underway. Students who are registered for school next year are engaging in exciting projects while teachers identify deficiencies and focus on their needs without the pressure of standardized testing.
At Belle Forest Community School, in addition to English and math, students are learning keyboarding. Twenty-six sites district-wide are providing more than 6,000 elementary students with an opportunity to strengthen reading, math and STEM skills.
The academy is free for all students. Learn more at www.scsk12.org.
