Fifty years ago, the world suffered a tremendous loss with the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., a tragedy that happened here in Memphis at Downtown’s Lorraine Motel.
To commemorate the American civil rights icon, The National Civil Rights Museum is combining education, digital engagement, art and community action to celebrate #MLK50 all year long, beginning April 4, 2017. Signature events and in-depth explorations into Dr. King’s impact will focus on the last years of his life, both locally and nationally.
