Halloween is always a fun time for performance theatres – every theatre has a ghost story. The ghost lamp, left onstage in an empty theatre, is so ghosts can see where they’re going. Playhouse’s ghost story involves a famous Memphian.
The Circuit Playhouse was once The Memphian Theatre. It hosted movie screenings for Elvis Presley and his friends. Stories about Elvis’ time at the theatre, like the little girl who stole a piece of his gum and how Elvis met his girlfriend, are part of a storytelling tour the theatre offers tourists by appointment.
