Breathing new life into Memphis

by

If you’ve walked around downtown Memphis lately, one thing should be clear: There’s a lot of real estate development going on.

But unlike some cities that are revitalizing, Memphis is finding new uses for historic buildings. Here are some examples:

The Tennessee Brewery: The building that once brewed beers like Goldcrest 51 now houses apartments with Mississippi River views.

Crosstown Concourse: This former Sears distribution facility has been transformed into a multiuse “vertical neighborhood.”

Melrose High School building: To attract developers, the city is holding events at the old Melrose High School building that has sat unused for 40 years.
