Ask any runner, and they’ll tell you running isn’t a sport for the faint of heart. It takes dedication, strength and determination. That’s why Oakhaven Elementary teacher Jeremiah Bland is passionate about sharing his love of running through an after-school club.
Each week, Coach Bland volunteers his time, guiding students through well-organized, intense workouts focused on improving running form and endurance. The team trains for monthly 5K races throughout Shelby County.
The lessons aren’t just preparing students for the finish line. Bland knows his runners are learning skills that will carry them through their educational career and beyond.
