Bolton Junior Harvests for Needy Families

by

Bolton High’s Julency Myrtil is wasting little time making a difference in her community. The junior is spearheading a committee to harvest and donate fresh fruits and vegetables to needy families by upgrading Bolton’s greenhouse and planting outdoor gardens on campus.

In addition to donations for the school food pantry, she plans to sell fresh produce to students and staff members to help generate money to keep the garden up and running.

Myrtil has secured a $500 grant from the Tennessee Foundation for Agriculture and a $2,000 grant from Lowe’s to get the project off to a strong start.
