The Council of Urban Boards of Education, or CUBE, has selected the Shelby County School Board’s nine local leaders for its national excellence award.
The honor is judged on performance, academic improvement, education equity and community engagement. SCS is just one of three school districts in the entire nation recognized for this distinction.
District 7 representative Miska Clay-Bibbs tells C19TV that it’s all about making “strong connections in the community and with parents.”
District 1 representative Chris Caldwell says it’s about more than just the Board and that he’d “like to acknowledge the teachers and principals around the District.”
