Havenview Middle School principal, Darla Young, never takes a break from helping kids. In addition to working as an educator, Young has fostered more than 50 children since 2009. She only accepts teenagers, because she recognizes they can be the most difficult to place in foster care.
“My plan is to help them learn to stand on their own,” she said. “Graduation is our first goal, with college or a trade as the second.”
Over the years, Young has fostered numerous teenage moms and now has 35 grandchildren. “If they need to come back, they know they can,” she said.
