Local Church Provides Free Kidney Screenings

by Michael Polzella

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, one in 10 adults has chronic kidney disease (CKD). Adults with diabetes and high blood pressure are more likely to develop CKD. Early detection could slow the progression of kidney failure and other related complications.

Memphians will have the opportunity on March 11 to find out if their kidneys are functioning properly, thanks to the National Kidney Foundation of West Tennessee and Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church. The two will be offering free kidney screenings at the church’s Midtown campus, located at 70 N. Bellevue Blvd. For more information, visit theblvd.org.
