An important Whitehaven park is getting an upgrade, thanks to the philanthropic arm of a state health insurer. Last month, BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee Health Foundation decided to invest $5.4 million in David Carnes Park.
The decision to invest in the park is part of a program designed to foster healthy communities by improving public spaces. City leaders were part of the nonprofit’s decision to invest in the park, which will receive a complete facelift when construction is all done.
While details haven’t been finalized yet, the reinvented park could include athletic fields, walking trails and new playground equipment.
