Breaking Barriers for Hispanic Heritage Month

by

On Oct. 15, Hispanic Heritage Month will end without some knowing it began. Like Black History Month or Women’s History Month, this could be an opportunity to intentionally learn more and celebrate diversity.

Latino Memphis offers a tangible support option through its Barrier Free project, which Latino Memphis’ website describes as “a socially engaged art installation.” The interactive and mobile art installation displays images of diverse families, bringing awareness to what divides us while celebrating what brings us together.

Once fully funded, the Barrier Free project could be seen across the country, again proving that change can start in Memphis.
