Southaven Church Will Serve City’s Growing Latino Population

The U.S. Census Bureau predicts the nation’s Hispanic population will more than double, to 128.8 million, by 2060. By that time, nearly one in three U.S. residents will be Hispanic, up from roughly one in six today.

“We recognize that Hispanics are the largest ethnic group in DeSoto County,” said Bartholomew Orr, Senior Pastor of Brown Missionary Baptist Church in Southaven.

Orr’s answer to the growing Hispanic population in the region has been to start Union Cristiana Church. It is a Spanish-language church that will be housed at Brown’s Main Campus location, beginning Sunday, April 16.
