Memphis is ready to shine for the holidays

by Michael Polzella

Pretty soon, it’s going to start looking a lot like Christmas in downtown Memphis. On Saturday, Nov. 17, a kid-friendly Holiday Tree Lighting event will take place from 5–7 p.m.

Children will be able to write and mail their very own letters to Santa. The big man himself is even making an appearance. Those in attendance can also partake in several holiday arts and crafts while Octave Up, a choir made up of students from Visible Music College, sings holiday carols.

The tree lighting event will take place at the corner of Peabody Place and Main Street.
