Recent Overton High graduate and violinist Journey Hogan joined musical titans such as Alicia Keys and Jennifer Hudson when she was named an NAACP Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics (ACT-SO) gold medalist.
ACT-SO highlights academic and cultural achievement among African-American high school students.
Hogan served as string orchestra concertmaster at Overton. She has performed at Carnegie Hall with the National Honors Orchestra and served as concertmaster at the Tennessee Governor’s School for the Arts and the All-West Tennessee Senior Honors Orchestra.
She will attend the University of Hartford on a full scholarship this fall.
